Megyn Kelly Fires Back At Jane Fonda Over Plastic Surgery

Posted January 31, 2018

Nearly four months after Jane Fonda shut down a question about plastic surgery during an interview with Megyn Kelly on NBC’s “Today” program, Kelly addressed Fonda’s controversial past while claiming she was not “in the market for a lesson from Jane Fonda on what is and is not appropriate.”

On her NBC show, Kelly said she normally does not comment when others publicly complain about her program. Kelly feels what others think of her is none of her business but Fonda’s continued discussion of the interview, including another recent appearance on “Today”, changed her mind about discussing the subject. Fonda and Lily Tomlin joked about the awkward moment when Hoda Kotb asked how long they’ve known each other. Fonda estimated 50 years while Tomlin guessed, “I think before your first facelift!” Fonda then joked to Tomlin, “Who are you, Megyn Kelly?”

Kelly reminded her audience that the actress had appeared on her show to promote a movie about aging. She added “The truth is, most older women look nothing like Fonda, who is now 80. And if Fonda really wants to have an honest discussion about older women’s cultural face, then her plastic surgery is tough to ignore. Fonda herself knows this, and that is why — to her credit — she’s discussed her cosmetic surgery pretty much everywhere before coming on our show.”

After showing a reel of Fonda openly talking about having work done in other interviews over the years, Kelly continued that there was no way for her to know that suddenly the topic was taboo.
