Discover the Most Popular Male Plastic Surgery Procedures

Plastic surgery is often viewed as a “female thing”. It seems that the majority of news stories and examples of plastic surgery procedures involve female patients. While many women undergo plastic surgery on a daily basis, there are plenty of male patients that have surgical procedures to enhance their appearance and make the change they have always desired when it comes to certain parts of their body. In fact, the American Board of Plastic Surgery reported that over 1.3-million plastic surgeries were performed on male patients in 2017.

The growing popularity of male cometic surgery means that more men than ever before are interested in learning more about the procedures that are available to them on a regular basis. They want to know their options when it comes to male cosmetic surgery procedures that can help them gain a youthful and rejuvenated look. To help answer their questions, Cosmetic Town TV recently took a look at the latest male plastic surgery procedures performed across the country:

Botox

Botox is injected into a targeted area on a patient to lessen the appearance of wrinkles in the face and provide a smooth appearance. The Botox is injected into a muscle near a wrinkle in order for neuromuscular blockers to limit the contraction of muscles in the area being treated.  Botox works well in areas such as the forehead, the corners of the eyes and the nose since these areas often become wrinkled thanks to excessive muscle usage and tightness. Botox is ideal for patients that have wrinkles on the face that are moderate to severe that are caused by muscle contractions.

Botox does more than reduce wrinkles and fine lines. It can also be injected into a patient to loosen muscles that are so tight that their movement is severely limited.  Botox can also relieve headaches in patients caused by tension or muscle spasms and it can provide relief from axillary hyperhidrosis which is a condition where patients suffer from excessive armpit sweating. The Botox blocks some of the signals that lead to secretion via sweaty armpits.

It takes a few weeks for the results to become visible and the final results can last for four to six months.

Male Breast Reduction

Men that are embarrassed by the breast-like appearance of their pectoral area are men that have a condition that is commonly called “man boobs”. The actual name for the condition is gynecomastia and it is a swelling of the breast tissues that is caused an imbalance of the hormones.

Men that suffer from the condition thanks to excess fat can have it treated via liposuction. Men that suffer from the condition due to a glandular issue can have the nipple opened up in order to remove a chunk of hard glands. Then, liposuction is performed to remove any excess fat located in the area. The incisions are small unless there is a large amount of skin that needs to be removed. The surgeon will remove all of the excess gland tissue, fat and skin while salvaging the nipple as a skin graft. The surgeon will then graft the nipple back onto the desired location.

The results of this procedure will be permanent as long as the patient maintains a healthy lifestyle and does not have any sort of significant weight gain in the future.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is more commonly known as a nose job and it alters and enhances the shape, size and look of the nose. The surgery is classified as being either open or closed rhinoplasty. Open rhinoplasty is when the incisions are on the outside of the nose and closed rhinoplasty means the incisions are inside the nose. The surgeon makes changes to the cartilage, bone or skin by removing it or reshaping it. The final results can include an improvement in the size or shape of the nose, facial features that are more balanced and even an improvement in the ability of the patient to breathe.

The results should be permanent as long as the patient does not suffer any major injury or trauma to the nose in the future.

Liposuction

Liposuction is performed to reshape problem areas on the body by removing excess fat and reshaping the body for an appearance that is slim and contoured. The procedure can reduce fat on multiple areas of the body including the thighs, abdomen, calves, hips and upper arms. Tiny incisions are made on the body on the area to be treated and the deposits of fat are removed using a suction tube known as a cannula. Even though fat deposits are removed, liposuction is not a weight loss procedure.

The results of liposuction can be maintained by a healthy diet and regular exercise. The fat that is removed will not return but additional fat that is located near the treated area can grow if the patient does not practice a healthy lifestyle.
