Are Jumbo Breast Implants Out Of Style?

Larger Breast Implants Are Going Out Of Style With Patients

When it comes to breast implants, it seems that “less breast is best” these days.

Instead of choosing the D size long favored by the Kardashians, many women are now choosing a B cup or a C cup when they get implants. They are favoring the breast sizes of celebrities like Gigi Hadid or Taylor Swift.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), breast augmentation has been in the Top 3 cosmetic surgeries since at least 2006. In fact, over 290,000 breast augmentations were performed in the last year.

According to New Jersey surgeon, Dr. Brian Glatt, “What we’re seeing mostly now is that bigger is not always better. People are looking to be more natural.” Many patients want their augmentation to be less noticeable to the point where others are curious if a procedure took place.

Plus, many patients prefer smaller implants since the recovery period is not as long as the recovery after having larger implants placed.

Dr. Melissa Doft, who runs a Manhattan plastic surgery practice, says the changing body and fitness goals of women have also inspired many to get smaller breasts. According to Dr. Doft, “We moved away from the pin-up models of the 50s, who were much more curvaceous, with much larger breasts and hips, to the extreme Kate Moss waif look of the 90s and now we’re somewhere in between.” She says the silhouette women are looking for is lean and athletic with curves that are not huge.

“Real Housewives of Orange County” star Kelly Dodd said that big boobs are out of style so she had a reduction procedure. Model Amber Rose has discussed on Instagram the fact that her size 36H breasts are weighing her down and she is thinking about getting a breast reduction.

According to the ASPS, the removal of breast implants increased among the public by 15\\% between 2015 and 2016.
