Why Chloe Grace Moretz Contemplated Getting Breast Implants

Learn why Chloe Grace Moretz thought About Breast Implants

At the age of 21, Chloe Grace Moretz is currently one of the hardest working young actresses in Hollywood. She has been acting since the age of seven and is very aware of the pressures on female actresses in Hollywood to have a certain look and this often includes having a figure with big breasts.

A Defining Moment on a Movie Set

When Chloe was just 16 years of age, she returned to her trailer on a movie set. She entered the trailer to find a push-up bra and inserts waiting for her. In an interview with The Sunday Time Style Magazine, she said I was like, ‘Where did these come from?’ Those little things were insidious. Even though you can brush them off, you still internalize them. They make you question yourself and think, ‘Well, maybe I am unhappy with the size of my breasts.’”

When it comes to the effect Hollywood has on the body image of celebrities, Moretz refers to the whole process as sexist and misogynistic. She said “I’ve had to look at Hollywood my whole life. The people I’ve been comparing myself to are people who are not real.”

What are Breast Implants?

Breast implants are performed via breast augmentation. It is a procedure where the size and shape of the breasts are enhanced through the placement of implants either behind breast tissue or under the chest muscle. The implant is filled with saline or silicone. After the implant has been placed by the surgeon, the incision is closed.

Breast augmentation is normally performed by a surgeon to add volume to disproportionately small breasts or restore balance to asymmetrical breasts. The end result is usually a more voluptuous figure.

Ideal breast implant candidates should be non-smokers that are free of bleeding tendencies and infections as well as free from cancerous and pre-cancerous tissues. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are not ideal candidates as the breasts tend to change in size during pregnancy or during the breast-feeding period. Patients must be at least 22 years of age or older. However, saline breast implants can be placed in women as young as the age of 18.

Breast Implant Costs and Results

In general, the cost of breast implants is in the range of $3000-$6000 for saline implants and $4500-$9000 for silicone breast implants. The cost can vary per patient depending on any fees charged by the doctor or the facility, the geographic location of the procedure, the level of expertise of the surgeon and if the placement of the implants is combined with any other procedures.

Patients will feel some breast pain for a few days after the surgery. Gauze dressings will be applied to the breasts to help reduce swelling. Patients should get plenty of rest following the surgery and also avoid lifting or bending as these actions can increase their pain level and delay the healing process.

The majority of breast implants last 10-20 years if the patient does not suffer any complications after the surgery. Patients can have the implants removed if they suffer from any health issues, have complications or simply tire of having the implants.

Life in Hollywood for a Young Actress

Besides facing pressures before the cameras, and behind the scenes, Moretz is also learning how to live a private life in the public eye. She recently broke up with her boyfriend of one year and hopes to keep her relationships more private in the future.

“Breakups are hard across the board but when every verified account on Twitter posts something about me, I get tagged. And every major publication is verified. So anytime they post something about a certain relationship, it pops up on my phone, which is how I find out about 90 percent of things.”

She added that “I personally don’t want to see people posted all over my phone making out.” She did admit that “you can’t post that photo unless you want people to talk about it. And if you do, you can’t complain.”

She has since learned “to be secretive. To keep things quiet. It’s been a very big learning curve, and that was hard. I had a lot of moments when I was, like, ‘Why can’t I just say this? Why can’t I be with this person in the street and not get photographed?’ And there’s no real answer to that other than you just can’t. That’s my life, but hopefully I’m going to try and control every ounce of it that gets out.”
