Celebrity Watch: Julie Chen’s Amazing Plastic Surgery Secrets

Julie Chen is known to TV viewers for her hosting duties on “The Talk” as well as “Big Brother”. She is also known for her changing appearance over the years. She is one of the few TV personalities not afraid to admit to undergoing plastic surgery in the past. Let’s take a closer look at the procedures she has admitted to having as well as some procedures she is suspected of undergoing but has not confirmed or denied to the public.

The Eyes Have It

During an episode of the “The Talk”, Chen admitted to having surgery performed on her eyes more than two decades ago. She wanted to make her eyes look bigger because she was told that she looked like a “bored” Asian American during one of her TV reporting jobs.

Chen said that she had a long conversation with family members about whether or not having the surgery would be “denying my heritage. You know, my mom calls one auntie, my father calls an uncle…it spreads to my entire family. It divided the family. Members of my family wanted to disown me if I got it done.”

Julie added that “no one’s more proud of being Chinese than I am. And I have to live with the decisions I’ve made. Every decision I’ve made…it got me to where we are today and I’m not going to look back.”

Asian blepharoplasty is a surgery that changes the appearance of the eyes by placing a crease in puffy upper eyelids of Asian patients that are lacking a crease. The result is a rejuvenated eyelid appearance thanks to the removal of fat and skin.

Has Julie had Rhinoplasty?

Cosmetic surgery on her eyes is the only procedure that she has admitted to undergoing in the past. She has also specifically denied having rhinoplasty to alter the appearance of her nose.  However, there are some plastic surgeons that disagree with her denials and believe that Julie has enjoyed the benefits of additional plastic surgeries.

Closer Weekly asked some plastic surgeons across the country, that have never specifically treated Julie in the past, to give their opinion on the changes in her appearance over the years. One doctor says that it does look like the TV star has undergone rhinoplasty in the past. He pointed out the fact that her nose looks to be augmented in the front to provide greater projection and definition. The doctor also feels that her nose looks a bit thinner than it did at the start of her career. He also complimented her eyelid appearance and said that her eyes look wider and more alert than they did in the past.

One other doctor that was interviewed for the article also commented on the different look to her nose. This doctor noticed a refinement to the dorsum of her nose with the assistance of crushed cartilage or some other method to make the dorsum have an appearance that is more refined and raised.

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that augments and enhances the appearance of the nose by altering its size as well as improving the ability to breathe for some patients. It can also remove bumps that are located on the nose and provide a more refined appearance to the tip.

Fillers for Julie?

Another doctor interviewed by the magazine says he thinks the TV personality is aging appropriately. He does feel like she might have some filler in her cheeks to provide a youthful look and to replace any volume that has been lost due to the aging process.

The fillers might also account for the increased contour to her cheeks that can be seen when she is smiling for the camera.

Even though she did admit to rhinoplasty, she has not been open about the other procedures that have been speculated about in this article. While she has been open about changes in her look, many personalities walk a fine line when it comes to giving out too much information. The public likes to get “behind the scenes” information but they also don’t want to lose the mystery behind their favorite celebrities. Until the time comes that Julie admits to any additional procedures, the public will just have to continue to speculate about her appearance.
