Discover Plastic Surgery Procedures to Eliminate Dad Bod

Plastic surgery has grown in popularity over the years and it is no longer seen as being a “female procedure” as it has been viewed in the past. Many men are now having plastic surgery to make a change in their appearance. Some men have a procedure to make sure they look younger and stay more marketable in the workforce while other men want to make a change in their appearance in order to get rid of their “dad bod”.

A “dad bod” is defined as a male physique that is not necessarily toned or lean in appearance. It refers to the look many men get after they have kids and are not able to exercise as much or be as physically fit as they were before kids. They are turning to plastic surgery to have a nip here and tuck there to combat the passage of time.

Some of the Most Popular Male Plastic Surgery Procedures

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of male cosmetic surgeries performed last year was more than 1.3 million. Some of the most popular procedures include:

  • Facelift – A facelift is performed to reduce wrinkles on the face as well as other signs of aging to provide an improvement to the look of the face and the jaw. A surgeon makes incisions that allow him to lift and tighten the underlying muscles to rejuvenate the structure of the face and to also provide a better contour. The surgeon also removes any excess fat and skin.
  • Liposuction – This surgical procedure provides a slim appearance to the body and reshapes the appearance of the patient by removing excess fat and providing a better contour to areas such as the abdomen, hips and upper arms. While excess fat is removed, liposuction is not a weight loss procedure for patients. Tiny incisions are made in the area to be treated and the fat deposits are removed through a cannula.
  • Rhinoplasty – A surgical procedures that changes the appearance of the nose by altering the size or shape of the nose. The change is accomplished by making alterations to the skin, bone or cartilage of the nose. In addition, the breathing ability of the patient can be improved through rhinoplasty. The surgery can be an open rhinoplasty (where the incisions are made on the outside of the nose) or a closed rhinoplasty (where the incisions are placed inside the nose of the patient). The final results can include a better balance of the facial features, a more narrow bridge on the nose or an alteration in the angle located between the nose and the upper lip.
  • Brow Lift – This treatment is sometimes referred to as a forehead lift and involves lifting the tissues of the brow on the forehead in an upward fashion. The lifting process can be done surgically through incisions or it can be accomplished via dermal fillers. A brow lift involves creating an incision in order to reach the muscles that either elevate or depress the forehead. These muscles are either reduced or excised from the area being treated. Once the muscles are properly treated, the entire forehead is lifted. In order to achieve the desired results, some skin can be removed to shorten the forehead.

Reasons Men Want to Ditch Their “Dad Bod”

Many men have the surgery for themselves and they also have the procedure for reasons related to their family. Some men don’t want to be viewed as being overweight or out of shape and be pointed out to their family members. They also don’t want their spouses or kids to be ashamed of their appearance.

One of the reasons that male plastic surgery has grown in popularity is that it has become more acceptable to others. Male patients still do not want the results to be too obvious to others but they are more open to the idea of having a cosmetic procedure.

Male patients want to make changes to the areas they can’t seem to change on their own. For example, many men can’t seem to get rid of the love handles or stomach that hangs over their belt buckle. They don’t mind turning to cosmetic surgery to make the changes they desire in their appearance.
