Top Cosmetic Surgery Treatments to Tighten the Tummy

Posted August 14, 2015

A tight tummy is one of the most sought after looks for the body. A taut, tight and trim tummy signals a person who likes to stay in shape and look good. How does a person go about getting a tight stomach?  Is it exercise?  Is a surgical procedure the best option? Or should a person try a combination of the two?  Here are some of the best ways to land that ever elusive tight tummy:

Top Tummy Tightening Treatments

Ultherapy – The use of ultrasound energy to reduce fat is achieved by utilizing focused ultrasound energy. The ultrasound energy goes through the skin in order to heat the fat and break up the cells in this noninvasive procedure.

CoolSculpting – A noninvasive procedure that is also known as cryolipolysis. It cools fat to a certain temperature after which the fat wastes away.

Liposuction – Liposuction is an invasive surgical procedure that makes use of a suction technique to remove fat from the tummy through incisions made in the targeted area. It is one of the most common and effective surgical procedures used to tighten the tummy. It is not a weight loss procedure. Overweight patients are more likely to get effective results through exercise, diet or bariatric procedures such as gastric bypass surgery. Patients that are most suitable for liposuction are those within 30\\\\% of their ideal weight and they have elastic yet firm skin.

Tummy Tuck – A tummy tuck is an invasive surgical procedure for patients that want to remove loose or excess skin from their body. The excess skin can happen for a variety of reasons including weight loss, skin not going back to its old shape after a pregnancy and a genetic predisposition to having excess abdominal skin. A full tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, involves tightening the abdominal muscles below the breasts to the pubic hair line and then removing the skin from the pubic hair line to the belly button.

Belt Lipectomy – A belt lipectomy is also an invasive procedure and it tightens the tummy by removing loose skin and fat around the waist or “belt line.” This procedure is often performed after a lot of weight has been lost. Named for the incision used, a belt lipectomy incision extends all the way around the abdomen at the same height or level where a person would wear a belt. This procedure is a good option for patients who have excess skin around the hips, abdomen and back. A belt lipectomy procedure is also referred to as an abdominal lipectomy or a panniculectomy. During a belt lipectomy, a cosmetic surgeon makes a cut around the lower back and tummy to take out the extra skin and fat. The tissues that are left are then sewn back together resulting in a smoother and a more tightened tummy.

Exercises that Tighten the Tummy

The importance of exercise cannot be overemphasized when tightening the tummy. There are different types of exercises specifically designed to tighten the tummy. They include:

Legs Up Straight Arm Crunch – This is one of the most efficient exercise routines for tightening the tummy. To perform this, lie flat on your back while putting your legs at a 90-degree angle from the floor. With your arms straight, proceed to curl the shoulders and the upper back off the floor by using your abs. While doing this motion, pull your arms up towards the ceiling. After holding for a few seconds, lower your body back towards the floor and repeat.

Lying Leg Raises – This is an exercise that tightens the tummy and helps improve and strengthen the core. It also helps to tone and tighten the skin around the lower abdominal muscles. To perform this, start by being flat on your back with your legs straight up in the air at a 90-degree angle. Lower your legs, while keeping them straight, until they almost touch the floor. Lift them back in the air and repeat the process.

Pelvic Thrusts – Pelvic thrusts are the perfect core and tummy exercise as it tones the lower abs. Raise your legs in the air, while on your back, at a 90-degree angle.  Lift your pelvis off the floor by using the lower abdominal muscles. Lower your legs back to the floor and repeat.

Follow a Healthy Diet to Tighten the Tummy

Eating a healthy diet full of tummy tightening foods is vital to developing a flat stomach. Eat fruits, vegetables and drink plenty of water. Avoiding fatty foods, soda, alcohol and unhealthy snacks all contribute to a healthier lifestyle as well as a better looking stomach.

The points listed above are by no means meant to be a complete list of options to gaining a tight tummy. It’s up to each person to determine what the best solution is for their individual situation. Consulting with a doctor is always a wise choice before embarking on a “tight tummy quest”. The options available to a person might be limited due to a variety of factors including age, overall health and whether or not they are a viable candidate for surgery. No matter what path a person takes to achieve their goal of a tight tummy, it is important to proceed in a healthy and responsible manner.
