Kylie Jenner and Plastic Surgery

Posted October 16, 2015

Just recently, people were debating if Kylie Jenner had some plastic surgery work done while still a teenager. Although it’s no secret now, Kylie’s controversy really caused a stir among the youth, especially among women. The now infamous “Kylie Jenner Challenge” spread like wildfire among teens and young adults which further proves how much people care about what goes on in other people’s lives.

Social commentaries aside, it really is quite daunting to see how much Kylie Jenner has grown up, or rather shaped up, in just one year. Everything about her seems to have become more “womanly” compared to a year ago, especially her lips and face.

Kylie has been creating a stir in the entertainment industry ever since people noticed how drastically and unnaturally her appearance matured from 2011 to 2014. Until recently, people were still quite unsure about whether or not Kylie Jenner had some plastic surgery work done on the down low at such a young age (she is only 18 now).

It All Started With…

Many would say that Kylie’s desire to get plastic surgery done at such an early age was due to her sister, Kim Kardashian. Ever since the popular TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, took off, it was evident that Kylie was influenced heavily to “improve” her looks. Top doctors have estimated that Kylie could have spent over $40,000 on an eyebrow lift, rhinoplasty, bigger lips and even chin enhancements. Kylie’s lip surgery was responsible for the “Kylie Jenner Challenge” phenomena that encouraged people to use a shot glass to suction and artificially plump up their lips.

Too Much Too Soon

Experts say that it is never a good practice for teens to get plastic surgery, let alone four major procedures that encompass the face. This argument makes sense, considering that the body and face continues to mature as time passes, so there’s no telling how plastic surgery will affect Kylie’s development. We all know how horribly people can age when they get heavy plastic surgery. Just look at Jocelyn Wildenstein or Amanda Lepore for examples of unfortunate botched cosmetic surgeries.

Some doctors are saying that Kylie should stop now before she ruins her face and end up as a laughing stock of the entertainment industry. Truth be told, Kylie isn’t too far from that already. Surgeons like Dr. Susan Evans, who specializes in facial filler procedures, stated that the procedures have made Kylie’s appearance “over-done and significantly older. It’s a good thing that American-approved fillers don’t last forever.” This warning comes after Kylie openly thanked her plastic surgeon for giving her ‘new lips’ after months of lying about it in the media.

What’s the Point?

Many would say that Kylie looked better before she got work done and that Kylie is only walking in her sister’s shadow by trying to look like her sister. Perhaps Kylie should have taken her own path like Kendall Jenner. Maybe she would have been greatly admired by the public instead of simply being the subject of gossip and criticism. Was it really Kylie’s own desire to drastically change her appearance or was it a result of the pressure she received from being part of a celebrity family? Only Kylie Jenner knows the real answer to these questions but can the same be said for the thousands of young women who will follow her example? With this much influence over other people, you’d think Kylie would act more like a role model to them instead of being a spoiled little princess.
