How Male Celebrities Get Red Carpet Ready

Posted February 25, 2016

The Oscars are this weekend and celebrities all over Hollywood are getting ready for the red carpet. They’re not just spending time trying to find the right outfit. Many are making visits to the doctor for last minute cosmetic procedures so they can look their best on the red carpet.

It’s not just actresses that spend time getting “a little work done”. Many male celebrities are suspected of enhancing their appearance before the ceremony. Doctors in Beverly Hills claim to have seen a rise in the number of men asking for less invasive cosmetic procedures over the past few years. While many men in the business world seem to be going down the cosmetic surgery path, men in the modeling and acting fields often start getting treatments before men in other business fields. Why? Actors in their 40s are still trying to get parts where they play men in their 30s and men in their 30s want to play guys in their 20s. Although many of these men turn to Botox for help, they need to be careful because eliminating all of the wrinkles on the face can result in an appearance that looks more feminine. In fact, the trend of men having Botox treatments is often called “Brotox”. Many doctors suggest they would be better off concentrating on the vertical lines between the brows and a sagging neck (if necessary).

The elimination of age spots, wrinkles and acne is always important when trying to achieve a red carpet ready look. Many celebrities use facial treatments like IPL (intense pulsed light), chemical peels, facials and microdermabrasion to make their skin look its best. Although they will get the best results if they undergo good facial treatments all year long, a couple of treatments before the big ceremony can make a difference in the way a person looks on the red carpet.

Some male celebrities looking for a quick lift use injectables and fillers to try and turn back the clock. From Botox to Sculptra and Juvederm, celebrities turn to these choices to get rid of wrinkles, tighten the skin and make their face look younger. The fillers and injectables only take a few minutes to get at a doctor’s office and the results can be seen rather quickly.

There are other tricks that men can do that don’t involve a visit to the doctor. The simplest trick is using quality makeup. A little foundation, concealer and moisturizer can help hide age spots and wrinkles from the bright lights of red carpet cameras. Some male celebrities are more concerned about what is going on underneath their tuxedoes. Boxer briefs and Spanx help keep their outfit lines smooth and any large stomachs under control. Finally, some celebrities without a healthy head of hair need a little bit of help covering the thinning areas on their scalps. Stars from John Travolta to Jon Cryer to Gordon Ramsey have been turning to spray-on hair to hide their bald spots. The key is making sure the spray-on hair is applied in a subtle manner so the lights on the red carpet don’t reveal the truth to the public.
