Hollywood Signs of Surgery

Posted January 12, 2015

The rampant speculation in Hollywood circles and the nation abroad about celebrities, especially female superstars, and their cosmetic surgery habits isn’t anything new.  Whether it was a question of breast augmentation or nose jobs, America’s sweethearts have been completely dissected, both figuratively and literally, by reporters and doctors, respectively.  From Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin to Taylor Swift and Cameron Diaz, Hollywood has had a love affair with scalpels and rumors.   So, these are the top three common ways to tell if a celebrity could have been nipped and tucked.

Number Three:  The Drop-Off.

This is what the Celebrity pundits like to call “the disappearing act.”  Hollywood has a habit of ramming celebrities down our throats.  Thanks to outlets like ET and TMZ, we can pinpoint a celebrity’s whereabouts within the inches.  Even if they’re on vacation, we still get shots of them wherever they decide to relax.  It is no longer possible to be stashed away and out of sight.  So, when a star has taken an obvious hiatus from the public and the paparazzi only two questions come to mind, have they gone under the knife or are they just in rehab?

Number Two:  The Up-Do Switcharoo and The Couture Cover-up

It is common for celebrities who have been on a public hiatus to come back into the limelight at a red carpet event sporting a new look.  If the star has had any facial surgery, the hair and makeup are the first things to see drastic traction into wholly different directions.  While Taylor Swift was being praised for her more mature and adult look, most people passed over the fact that her style team made her look so impeccably brand new, that the world missed the alleged and yet subtle reshaping of her nose.  She has been ruling the pop world as of late, but her style team and her doctor are really the ones who deserve most of the awards.  Speaking of the style team, do you know who earns their keep after a celeb has a breast augmentation?  A Wardrobe Stylist that’s who.

They are the builders of body camouflage.  A celeb’s stylist can be the difference between the obvious and just speculative.  When you see a star suddenly change closet styles to fit their better, “fuller” body, it is not only a smart way to tailor the clothes, but it is also a smart way to minimize the obvious body change.  Whether it be a body contouring or augmentation, stylists can accent the hips with some stripes or an open slit to match a solid blouse top and voila, the eye is directed down to bottom half and away from their change.

And finally, the number one way to tell if a celebrity has been nipped and tucked…

Number One:  The Scar Bazaar -The Misshapen Mishap

Nothing says cosmetic surgery like a poorly executed procedure.  A doctor’s low quality work can actually highlight the perceived defect that the celebrity wished to correct in the first place.  In these cases, an old photo is a celebrity’s worst nightmare.  The side by side comparisons that the tabloids use to feed their rumor mills the water needed to rotate the propellers and draw more rumors, really take on a life of their own after such spreads.  The highlighting of scars from the incisions, or the differences in roundness or protrusions become pointed signals that a star has had some touch ups done of non-photo shop variety in an embarrassingly public way.

So with that, we at Cosmetic Town Journal say that as long as the recipients of their aesthetic treatments are happy and not in any mental or physical danger, than we should accept them as if they were any other medical procedures.
