The Cosmetic Town news team recently covered the rising trend of cosmetic surgery for the scrotum which is also known as “scrotox”. While this procedure is still popular among men, there is a related treatment growing in popularity among females. This cosmetic surgery trend is known as “labia puffing” and is performed in order to make the labia look more youthful. The procedure involves injecting fat from one part of the patient’s body into the labia majora. The injection serves to boost the volume of the area as well as remove creases and add elasticity.
The theory behind labia puffing is that it makes an older woman’s private area have a younger appearance as well as gives an overall rejuvenation of her private parts. Labia puffing costs in the range of $3000-$3400 and it takes an hour to perform. In general, the recovery time is 1 or 2 days.
Why is there a need for labia puffing? As women age, they tend to lose fat and the puffing process is designed to restore that lost fat. The fat is harvested through liposuction from the outer thighs or stomach. It is then transferred into the labia majora (the larger outer folds of the vulva) via injection and proceeds to take years off of its appearance.
According to medical experts, the technique works best on older women as well as women who have lost a large amount of weight. It is also gaining in popularity because it is advertised as a less involved surgical option than a labiaplasty which is performed to alter the inner and outer labia AKA the folds of skin that surround the vulva. The surgical alteration from a labiaplasty takes about a week of downtime for a full recovery.
Most of the patients currently interested in labia surgery still request a labiaplasty and tend to be younger. However, older patients are showing an increased interest in not only having labia puffing but also combining it with a labiaplasty. They tend to ask for both procedures in order to get the youngest and most youthful looking vagina possible.
